Jamont was born in Nashville, Tennessee on March 16, 1987. He played for Oak Hill Academy in high school and for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. After his junior year in College he declared for the NBA Draft 2008 where he was projected as an early second round draft pick

Jamont signed for the 2008-09 season to play for Fortitudo in Bologna, Italy.
