Nikola is right-handed and lists Kevin Garnett of the Minnesota Timberwolves as his favorite professional athlete, while in high school, he was a member of three different Serbia-Montenegro National Teams. As a member of the Under 20 Team, Dragovic averaged 11.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game. The Under 20 Team captured its first gold medal at the European Championships since 1998 when it beat tournament hosts Turkey 64-58 on July 23, 2006, he tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds (his only double-double) in the semifinal-win over Italy, in a quarterfinal win over Slovenia, Dragovic scored 10 of his 14 points in overtime to lead Serbia-Montenegro to an 85-78 victory He scored 20 or more points in three of his eight European Championship games (20 vs. Latvia, 22 vs. Croatia, and 20 vs. Lithuania) .
